Holidays in Primosten - how to get there and where to stay, beaches and prices
The pretty town of Primošten is situated on a peninsula, 60 km north of Split. Its atmosphere is unique: fiery red roofs of old houses and winding alleyways with boutiques, tavernas and cafés. Opposite the town, on a long peninsula framed by pebble beaches and Mediterranean pine trees, lies the famous hotel complex Adriatica.
The historical centre of Primosten is situated on a small island and is connected to the rest of the town by a short bridge. This explains the name of the town, pri moshten (by the bridge), connected to the rest of the city by a bridge.
How to get there
The distance from Primosten to Šibenik, the provincial capital, is only 20 km, to the lovely old town of Trogir only 33 km and to Split Airport only 60 km. So it's easy to get to the resort, or to get out and about; there are frequent, regular bus services to all major destinations.

The sights and attractions in Primosten
Towering over the town stands the 15th-century St George's Cathedral. The buildings in the town itself date back to the 16th century. From the bird's eye view, the two adjacent peninsulas, Primosten and Raduča, resemble the body and tail of a huge fish, the image of which is featured in most Croatian tourist catalogues.
In addition to the church of St. George, several other religious-themed buildings in Primosten attract attention. Firstly, the ancient church of Our Lady of Grace built in 1553. And secondly the small San Rocco Chapel, dating back to 1680. Note also the remains of the 17th century fortress walls.
Finally, a unique Primosten feature are its local vineyards, from which the famous "Babic" wine comes from. Not only have they been UNESCO World Heritage candidates since 2005, but their image also decorates the wall of the UN office in New York.
Finally, Primosten is also considered the most flowery and colourful resort in Croatia. In 2007 it was even awarded the title of the "Golden Flower of Europe" for the most decorative floral decoration of the town.
